FERTILE EGGS: THE SECRET BEHIND BETTER HATCHABILITY

August 20, 2026

Egg fertility plays a major role in successful hatching. When eggs are properly fertilized, they have the potential to develop embryos and produce healthy chicks. Good breeding management matters greatly.

During candling, fertile eggs may become increasingly opaque as the embryo develops, because developing tissues block light. This helps farmers identify progressing embryos during incubation. Proper observation is essential.

In contrast, eggs that remain translucent during appropriate candling may indicate infertility, especially when there are no visible signs of embryonic development. However, timing and candling technique matter. Accurate interpretation prevents mistakes.

Farmers should therefore maintain healthy breeding stock, provide proper nutrition, manage mating correctly, collect clean eggs, and maintain suitable incubation temperature and humidity. Every step influences hatchability and chick quality significantly.

Remember, fertility comes before hatchability. Without a viable embryo, an egg cannot hatch, regardless of incubation conditions. Proper breeding management and careful candling help maximize successful hatching. Knowledge drives results.
