AGRICULTURE IS AFRICA'S GREATEST WEAPON AGAINST HUNGER

August 04, 2026

Nearly one billion people reportedly sleep hungry each night, with Africa carrying a significant burden. Strengthening agriculture remains essential for achieving lasting food security. Food security begins with action.

African leaders must prioritise agriculture through supportive policies, increased investments, and farmer empowerment. Strong agricultural systems create jobs, reduce poverty, and improve national food supplies. Leadership shapes agricultural progress.

Poor roads, electricity, storage facilities, and processing infrastructure contribute heavily to post-harvest losses. Valuable food is wasted before reaching consumers, increasing scarcity and market prices. Infrastructure protects harvests.

Africa produces enormous quantities of food, yet inadequate preservation and storage systems limit availability. Modern warehouses, cold chains, and transport networks reduce waste significantly. Proper storage preserves prosperity.

Building resilient agricultural systems requires commitment, innovation, and strategic investments across the continent. Food security depends on producing, preserving, and distributing harvests efficiently for everyone. Agriculture secures Africa's future.
